Seminar Overview
The International WingTsun Association is proud to announce that Great Grandmaster Leung Ting will personally lead an in-depth seminar this autumn. Centred on the theme of "Structural Power & Close-Range Combat", this seminar is designed to help intermediate Wing Tsun practitioners break through technical plateaus and gain a deeper understanding of the internal mechanics that make Wing Tsun so effective.
Great Grandmaster Leung Ting has been teaching Wing Tsun since 1967, and over the past five decades has trained countless instructors and students worldwide. This seminar represents one of the rare opportunities in recent years to receive direct instruction from the Grandmaster himself — an occasion not to be missed by serious practitioners.
Seminar Content
Part I: Foundations of Structural Power
Wing Tsun's ability to overcome larger and stronger opponents lies in its unique structural mechanics. This segment will explore:
- Centreline Theory in application — how to occupy and defend your centreline while attacking your opponent's
- Elbow positioning (埋踭) — how correct elbow placement determines overall structural integrity
- Spinal alignment & centre of gravity — maintaining structural integrity while in motion
- Joint angles & power transmission — analysing the force chain from foot to fist
Part II: Close-Range Combat Techniques
Close-quarters fighting is one of Wing Tsun's most distinctive domains. The Grandmaster will personally demonstrate and guide participants through:
- Advanced Chi Sau (Sticky Hands) — sensing your opponent's intention and force direction upon contact
- Short-bridge power generation — delivering explosive force from extremely short distances
- Simultaneous attack & defence — the core Wing Tsun concept of "linking defence with attack" in live drilling
- Close-range grappling & control — joint locks and suppression techniques at close quarters
Part III: Live Drilling & Individual Correction
The final segment of the seminar will provide ample time for partnered drilling, allowing participants to immediately apply the techniques covered. Great Grandmaster Leung Ting will circulate among the groups, offering one-on-one guidance and corrections tailored to each individual's movement patterns.
Who Should Attend
This seminar is designed for practitioners who have completed the foundational Wing Tsun curriculum (at minimum, Siu Nim Tau and Chum Kiu). Participants should possess:
- Basic experience with Chi Sau (Sticky Hands)
- A working understanding of the Wing Tsun forms (Siu Nim Tau, Chum Kiu)

"Wing Tsun does not rely on brute strength — it relies on structure, angle, and timing. When you truly understand structural power, you will realise that strength was never the issue."
